Johnny Cash recorded his second live album behind prison walls at San Quentin State Prison. The resulting album At San Quentin, contained his hit “A Boy Named Sue.” During the concert, the song “San Quentin”, about an inmate’s loathing for the prison, received such an enthusiastic response that Cash immediately played an encore. The concert was also taped for television broadcast.
