On This Day…

May 24, 1883

The Brooklyn Bridge over the East River is opened. It connected the cities of New York and Brooklyn for the first time in history. It’s construction took 14 years and deaths of 27 workers. The con artist George C. Parker became famous for selling the Brooklyn Bridge, sometimes as often as twice a week.
