1933….
Storms weren’t named back then, but what is now called “The Hurricane of 1933” created the Ocean City Inlet as storm water from the bay overflowed and carved a path to the ocean. It began as a 50-foot wide, eight-foot deep channel that separated the southern end of the town from what is now Assateague Island.
