A Summer Celebration of America’s Music

July 19, 2025 | 3:00 PM

Organization: Southern Delaware Orchestra

Where: Cape Henlopen High School | 1250 Kings Hwy, Lewes, DE 19958

SODELO, Southern Delaware’s own orchestra, presents “A Summer Celebration of America’s Music,” featuring works by beloved American composers on Sunday, July 20th at 3 PM at Cape Henlopen High School, 1270 Kings Highway, Lewes. This traditional SODELO venue often sells out! Tickets are available at sodelomusic.org

These performances will be under the baton of guest conductor Stephen Czarkowski, an internationally recognized conductor and cellist. Soprano soloist Dr. Makeda Hampton, who has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, will also be featured. The program includes works by some of America’s greatest composers, including Irving Berlin, Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, Richard Rogers and John Williams.

If you can’t make it July 20th, see SODELO’ listing for 7/19 at Milford High School, 1019 N. Walnut Street in Milford, or watch for the orchestra’s debut at Freeman Stage at 7 PM on August 12th, which will feature a few surprises.

Candidate Forum RD20

Organization: League of Women Voters-Sussex County Delaware

Where: Milton Elementary School | 512 Federal St, Milton, DE 19968

The League of Women Voters of Sussex County Delaware will hold a DE House of Representatives District 20 Candidate Forum with candidates Alonna Berry (D) and Nikki Miller (R) on Thursday, July 31 from 7-8:30 PM at Milton Elementary School, 512 Federal Street. This forum is for the special election to be held August 5th (preceded by Early Voting) to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Stell Parker Selby, who resigned for health reasons. Audience members questions and those submitted ahead of time online at RD20 Forum Questions will provide the content for the forum, which will be moderated by Kim Hooey Stevenson. The venue is accessible and American Sign Language interpretation will be provided.

Town of Bridgeville’s Outdoor Movie Night
